Ramayana
Client:
Dneg
Role:
Visual Design-Costume Design

Ramayana, set for release in 2026, is the most expensive film ever made in India, with a budget exceeding $500 million. Its visual effects were created by DNEG, an eight-time Oscar-winning studio known for films such as Interstellar, Inception and Dune.
During the project, I led a 35-person team responsible for in-depth research and visual consistency across large crowd scenes, some featuring as many as 10,000 people. The team brought expertise in textures, colours, mixed materials and fabrication workflows. I also custom-made ancient brass and bamboo armour and shields, designed intricate masks, and crafted period-accurate clothing and jewellery, creating intricate embroidery, to bring divine characters such as Lord Rama, Sita and Lord Hanuman to life.
